Year 5 were discovering air-resistance and decided to have a go at feeling it for themselves. We ran across the playground with a parachute on our back and felt the air-resistance slowing us down.
Then we made different types of parachutes (miniature ones) and dropped them to see which one was best.

The science squad are putting on a competition!
We would like every classroom to have a science display. It can be big or little. The classes can choose the theme of the display, or it could just be general science and have no theme at all!
We will remind about the competition when the it gets nearer to the end. It will be judged by the science squad on Thursday 29th June 2017.
The winning class will get to choose a science resource to help with exciting science lessons in the future.
We reallyhope you join our competition.
Thanks from the science squad

Year five have been doing a SCIENCE topic (SPACE). Therefore a lot of SCIENCE has been going on inside there classroom at the moment. This is a picture of a small group of them doing some INVESTIGATING and EXPERIMENTING! They are looking at how the whiteboard (which is acting as the EARTH) tilting affects the LIGHT because year five are specifically studying how the EARTH lives in the SOLAR SYSTEM. Parents at home if you have a year five child then you could test them by asking them how it does affect the LIGHT. By Matilda.

A new era of Science began at the Willows in 2016 as we formed a a science squad. We also helped Tim Peake with a special Rocket Seeds experiment. We tested seeds that had been to space with Tim against those that had remained on earth. It created an amazing buzz in our school!
