Year 2

22.5.20

Good morning Year 2. How are we all? It's Friday, but not only that it is the last Friday of half term. We have now spent a full half term at home. Can you believe it?

Thank you once again for posting on Seesaw. We have been incredibly impressed with the catapults that you have made. You are the most amazing and creative engineers. We've added a little clip below showing extremely small catapults. We thought it might make you chuckle.

We won't be setting any new work for you to do at home over the next two weeks. We think that you deserve a rest as you have all worked so hard. Enjoy the fresh air, enjoy your daily walks and get out on your bikes. The most important thing is that you have fun and enjoy being with your family. We will be keeping an eye on Seesaw so if you want to post pictures to let us know what you are up to we would love to see them.

We are both so proud of you all and the great effort that you have made this half term. You are all Home Learning Superheroes!

Love Mrs Merrell and Mrs Jennings

Good morning Year 2. We hope that you all managed to get outside and enjoy the sunshine yesterday. It was so hot! Thank you once again for posting examples of your work on Seesaw. We really enjoy seeing what we have been doing but most of all we enjoy seeing you when you post a photograph. We can't wait to see how your catapults turn out. Some of you are well on your way with your models. Make sure that you take care when you fire them. One poor cat got a bit of a shock yesterday.

Have a great day. Take care and keep safe. Please let us see what you have been up to.

Good morning Year 2. Happy Wednesday! We hope that you had a lovely day yesterday and that you carried out some acts of kindness. We really enjoyed reading about what you have been doing on Seesaw. We are also really pleased to see that you are approaching your daily tasks with a growth mindset. It is supposed to be a hot and sunny day today so make sure that you try to spend some time outside. It makes you feel so much better when you can get out in the fresh air. You could do today's well-being task in your garden.

Have a great day. We miss you all.

Good morning Year 2. We hope that you enjoyed your challenges yesterday. We are really proud of you all and the way that you are approaching your home learning challenges. Thank you for your posts on Seesaw yesterday. We love to see what you have been up to.  This week is Mental Health Awareness Week and our focus is Kindness. Look at the sheet: Daily Acts of Kindness. Perhaps you could choose to do a couple each day. You could let us know what you did on Seesaw. Remember; In a world where you can be anything, be kind.

Good morning Year 2. Thank you so much for the photos and videos you sent us on 'seesaw' to show us what you have been doing at home. We are so very proud of all of you. This week we are thinking about LRRH again in both our Literacy and STEM activities and there are some multiplication challenges for you in Maths. As it is Mental Health Awareness Week this week alongside your STEM tasks we have planned for you to work at skills which will help you to develop a super 'growth' mind set. The main theme for Mental Health Awareness Week is kindness and it would be amazing if you could think of some acts of kindness that you could do for other people to make them feel happy. Don't forget to be kind to yourself as well; perhaps you could do something this week that really makes you happy? Mrs Warren explains about Mental Health Awareness Week in her 'Thought for the Day' so don't forget to click on her sunflower icon to find out more. Have a great week! Stay safe. Mrs Jennings and Mrs Merrell.

Good morning Year 2. It's Friday! We can't believe how fast the week has gone. You continue to impress us with the high standard of your work and your enthusiasm for learning. You really are 'Stay at home superheroes!' The work that we are seeing on Seesaw is fantastic. We are really impressed with the musical instruments that you have made so far. We can't wait to watch you using them to create a message in Morse Code. We hope that you enjoy the activities that we have prepared for you for today. Remember, you do not have to do everything. Just do what you can.

We have added the White Rose Friday Challenge for you. White Rose say that the most suitable questions for Year 2 are 1, 2 & 3. But they suggest you work with your family on the rest of the problems. So do as many as you can! Help each other out and have fun!

Have a relaxing weekend. Hopefully you will be able to get outside and take more walks and exercise. We look forward to hearing about what you have been doing.

Take care, keep safe and have fun!

Good morning Year 2. How are you all today? We hope that you had a good day yesterday. It was lovely to see the sun shining once again. We were pleased to see that some of you tried out the yoga poses. We continue to be impressed with the musical instruments that you are making.

Today we have got the next part of Little Red Riding Hood to watch. There is a very catchy song that you can sing along with called 'Stay on the path'. We hope that you enjoy your STEM task today. We can't wait to see what you create on Seesaw. The Maths task is based on number bonds to 100.

Have a great day.

Mrs Merrell and Mrs Jennings

Good morning Year Two. We hope that you are all well and keeping cheerful even though the weather is not as good as it has been. Thank you for posting your work onto Seesaw. We have enjoyed translating yet more Morse Code messages and we have been very impressed with the musical instruments that you are making.

Today is Wednesday so we would like you to focus on your  health and well being. We have posted some Yoga activities for you to try. See if you can learn all five poses and what they mean. We would love to see pictures of you practising your poses on Seesaw.

Have a lovely day. We look forward to seeing what you have been up to.

Good morning Year 2. First of all we would like to say a great big thank you to you all for putting together your 'Happy' video. It was awesome! It made us smile and also feel a bit emotional but most of all it made us feel really proud. Seeing you all smiling and looking really happy really made our day. We miss you all and we are looking forward to seeing you all again when we are able to do so. In the meantime we hope that you enjoy the tasks that we have set for you today. We enjoyed looking at all your posts on Seesaw yesterday. Thank you to those of you who gave us Morse Code messages. You will be pleased to know that we were able to translate them all. Have a great day. Keep safe.

Mrs Merrell and Mrs Jennings.

11.5.20

Good morning Year 2. You did a great job with your learning last week. We especially loved looking at photos of the shoes you made! They were brilliant. We are so proud of you. We know you are all doing the best you can. This week we are basing our learning around the story of L_____ R__ R_____ H___. Can you guess the title?  It is a traditional story. It is mainly set in a wood. The main character is a girl. There is a wolf. Have you guessed it yet? Yes, you are right . .  of course it is Little Red Riding Hood. We are going to be using this story for 2 weeks but it is going to be a little bit different as we have given you a video story to watch rather than a story for you to read. Actually there is a version of the story for you to read in the STEM resources, but remember you can always read other versions of the story online or from your family's book collection. Many of you enjoyed the 'crack the code' spelling work so keeping with that idea your STEM challenge this week is about sending messages using code. Be creative and have fun with your learning. Be steady. Mrs Jennings and Mrs Merrell.

Good morning Year 2. We hope that you are all well. Thank you once again for posting your work on Seesaw. It really makes our day when we see what you have been up to. We are very impressed with your transient art work and some of you could be TV chefs! You were very professional when making your cookery videos. We have seen some fabulous shoes and we are hoping to see some more today.

Tomorrow is VE Day so we will not be setting you any work to do. Let us know if you do anything to celebrate the occasion. The children that live next door to me are making bunting to put on their house.

Have a lovely day and enjoy the sunshine.

Good morning Year 2. Wasn't the weather lovely yesterday? It makes you feel so much better when the sun is shining. We enjoyed reading about what you had been up to. I think my favourite was hearing about one of you doing roly-polys down a hill. What fun!

Today is Wellness Wednesday and the weather forecast is good once again, so we would like you to go out into the fresh air and have a go at some transient art. Transient art is simply art without glue. It is non-permanent art and it can be small or large scale. You can do it by yourself or with somebody else, we will leave it up to you. We have put some ideas below to get your creative juices flowing. Please post some pictures to let us see what you came up with. Have fun!

The weather forecast is good for today so make sure that you get some fresh air and exercise and don't worry if you can't do all the challenges that we set. Just do what you can. We are very proud of you all.

Have a great day.

Good morning Year 2. We hope you've had a good weekend. The work set for you this week in Literacy is based on the well known story of Cinderella. We've given you a copy of the story to read but it would be lovely if you'd  look through your book collection or online for other versions to read as well. You could choose your favourite version and use that one to help you to complete your Literacy work. Your STEM challenge for this week is all about shoes! We can't wait to look at your posts on 'seesaw' to see how you get on. There's a new fun activity for you to do each day for Maths and a challenge to help you improve your speed and accuracy when adding and subtracting with numbers to 20.

Please don't forget to click on the sunflower and read Mrs Warren's thought for the day. Have fun learning. Stay safe. Mrs Jennings and Mrs Merrell.

P.S. Can you guess what type of words your spellings are this week? (Clue: Look at the words we have written in bold.)

Good morning Year 2. How are you today? it was lovely to see that lots of you went out for your daily walk yesterday even though it was raining. I went for a walk with Harry and we enjoyed it even though it was pouring down and we got soaked. We spotted some new things as we were walking. As we walked past Trafford General Hospital we noticed that they had painted the post box blue and they had written a message on the road. This is to say thank you to the NHS and key workers. Me and my family will be clapping or banging pans in our street tonight and I will be wearing my new T shirt.

We hope that you enjoy the challenges that we have set for you to do today. Please post some pictures and videos on 'Seesaw' if you can. We really enjoy seeing what you have been doing.

Have a great day.

Good morning Year 2. Well yesterday was a wet day but I am delighted to see that so many of you managed to go outside and enjoy the rain rather than the sun. Today it is Wellness Wednesday, the day that we focus on our health and well being. We have attached some mindful colouring sheets for you to try that are based on the story of Jack and the Beanstalk. We hope that you enjoy completing them. Thank you once again for posting pictures and videos onto 'Seesaw'. Your towers are looking very impressive.

We have a family of robins living in our garden shed. We were very excited to discover on Monday that the chicks had hatched. The picture of the chicks is not very clear but we didn't want to disturb them.

Have fun completing today's tasks.

Good morning Year 2. We hope you enjoyed your challenges yesterday? We certainly enjoyed looking at your posts on 'seesaw'. How did you get on with the Wellness Wednesday activities? We love the balanced breathing and think it should definitely be used everyday not just on a Wednesday! Perhaps you could do it again today just before you settle down to your learning. Today's Math's challenge asks you to go online to find out about 'minute world records' before seeing if you can set your own record and hopefully you will be ready to make and test your flotation device for today's session of your STEM challenge. Have fun with your tasks today and don't forget to show us what you have been doing. Take care. Have a good weekend. Enjoy the lovely weather and make sure that you get lots of fresh air. We are planning more fun activities for you to try next week.

Mrs Merrell and Mrs Jennings.

Good morning Year 2. I hope that you had a good day yesterday and made the most of Wellness Wednesday. I went for an early morning run and the sun was shining. All that I could hear were the birds singing and my feet tapping on the ground. When I got back I did the exercises that I asked you to do. My colour was yellow because I felt happy and energised. I've kept my picture to remind me of that feeling. I also looked at my flowers again and they are looking good. I hope that you enjoyed looking in your gardens.

We hope that you enjoy todays tasks. We look forward to reading some of your spoonerisms, seeing your photographs and your bags. We really enjoyed seeing your pictures and videos on Seesaw. Please keep sending them to us.

Have a good day and we look forward to seeing what you have been doing.

Good morning Year 2. We hope you enjoyed the film that the teachers  made for you. If you haven't seen it yet, it's at the top of the class pages' section. Can you spot Mrs Bell? She is the teacher that is in disguise.

It is Wellness Wednesday so it is important that we think about our health and well being. Try to make sure that you spend some time outside in the fresh air. The weather is lovely at the moment so make the most of the sunshine. Have a good look around your garden. Can you spot any new flowers that are beginning to appear? I planted some wild flowers last year and they are beginning to flower. Each morning I go outside and count the new flowers and buds. I have three bright pink flowers and ten buds waiting to burst open. If you do not have plants in your garden look around and see what you can spot when you are taking your daily walk.

You could also try the mindful exercises that we have attached. Have a good day. We hope you have fun completing your daily tasks.

Thank you for being so fantastic.Take care. Mrs Merrell and Mrs Jennings.

Good morning Year 2. Well done for being 'stay at home heroes' for another day. Did you manage to make someone smile yesterday?
