Pupils and their learning lie at the heart of everything that we do at The Willows. The bedrock of our curriculum design is based upon the drive to optimise achievement, equity and enjoyment for all pupils. Our aim is to provide every child with the perfect start in life that successfully prepares them for their continuing education and ultimately as lifelong learners and great global citizens. To achieve these aims, it is vital that we offer a curriculum that goes above and beyond statutory content.

Careful consideration is needed when planning to ensure progression of skills for each pupil as they move from Early Years to Upper Key Stage Two. We have adopted the following model, produced by Durham County Council, which shows the year group or phase expectations in every subject.
This Progression of Skills document sets out what will be taught in each year group based on the 2014 National Curriculum. When planning, teachers will consider the overall Learning Objective; a focus for the objective and the resulting Success Criteria.
